State Recognition
- Received a $2.1 million grant from Texas Governor Rick
Perry to provide start-up costs for workforce centers in
Hidalgo and Starr counties. The project trained 4,375
new and existing jobs. - Received 13 Skills Development Fund grants and 7 Self-
Sufficiency Fund grants from the Texas Workforce
Commission, thereby establishing a successful track
record based on performance.
National Recognition
Received a $5 million in H-1B and High Growth grants from the U.S. Department of Labor to support South Texas Manufacturers Association (STMA) Apprenticeship Programs in partnership with Workforce Solutions. STMA employers contributed $5 million to the project. This program established a Regional Community College Apprenticeship Training Alliance between South Texas College, Texas State Technical College and Texas Southmost College.
