Professional Truck Driver

Preparation for mastery of the Commercial Drivers License written examination, general truck driving skills with hands-on component, and instruction coordinated with the Department of Transportation.

Learning Outcomes: Demonstrate the safe operation and compliance with the law in various maneuvers of a commercial vehicle in different traffic situations; operate a tractor-trailer combination; and maneuver the vehicle safely frontward and backward around various obstacles.

Admissions Requirements:

  • Interview with the school admissions representative
  • Desire to become an OTR driver
  • Positive attitude
  • Must be able to pass a DOT Physical Exam & Drug Screen
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Valid driver’s license from student’s resident state

Bus Driver Training Program

The School Bus Driver Training Program is designed to introduce the students to the procedures and skills found in the school bus and commercial bus driving industries while preparing each individual to obtain a commercial bus driver’s license with (S) and (P) endorsement.

Students will develop the skills necessary to operate a commercial vehicle safely.

Each course consists of classroom, lab, range and on the road experience to ensure the best possible training.

The program covers topics in basic operations, safe operating practices, advanced operating practices, vehicle maintenance, and non-vehicle activities.

Within each section, students will cover topics on vehicle control systems, vehicle pre-trip inspections, basic control, railroad crossings, shifting, backing, visual search and communication skills, speed and space management, documentation regulations, accident procedures, trip planning, and extreme conditions.
